Intensity distribution
Gaussian intensity distribution
All Laser Modules are based on laser diodes, which exhibit a Gaussian intensity distribution of the emitted light. Thus the line also has a Gaussian intensity distribution. For most laser line generators this Gaussian intensity distribtion is clipped by an aperture with an edge intensity. The edge intensity depends on the laser line series and the laser diode within the laser module. It can be seen in the technical data of each laser module.
Uniform intensity distribution
Lasers with uniforn intensity distribution habe an almost constant intensity and thus provide a constant power density along the laser line. However if you look closely, it is Gaussian, but it is clipped by an aperture with a large edge intensity of typ. 80 % or higher. The edge intensity depends on the laser line series and the laser diode within the laser module. It can be seen in the technical data of each laser module.
