Description

Laser diode beam sources of type 58FCM are fiber-coupled laser sources with single-mode or polarization-maintaining fiber cables. 

Electrical features
The output power is adjustable using a potentiometer or using the two modulation inputs for analog and TTL. The electrical cable is 1.5 m long. There are two possible supply voltages 5 V or 12 V. Other electrical cables and connectors on request.

Electrical options:

  • Two optional operation modes: constant power (standard) or constant current.
  • Operation Mode "Constant power": An internal control loop maintains constant laser power. Advantage: compensates for temperature variations or ageing of laser diode. 
  • Operation Mode "Constant current": The internal control loop maintains constant ­laser current. The power output depends on temperature. Advantage: reduced laser noise.  
  • 5V or 12 V
  • To fullfill lower laser safety requirements (e.g. laser class 2), the laser source can be delivered with reduced maximum output power
  • Protective cap to prevent damage to the potentiometer
  • Other electrical cables and connectors on request.

Fiber Cable
The source is fiber-coupled polarization-maintaining fiber cable (standard, polarization extinction ratio > 23 dB). As a result the beam profile is rotationally symmetric with Gaussian intensity distribution. The fiber cable is equipped with an FC APC connector (8°-polish). Fiber connectors with end caps are used for wavelengths <635 nm. The fiber cables have strain-relief and protective sleeving (Ø 3 mm). Standard cable length is 150 cm.

Laser Safety
The laser safety is conform to IEC 825 / EN 60825-1.

  • LED status indicator for “Laser ON”
